Opening Musings
I have long considered creating a blog, but was always hindered by the idea of keeping it up or of finding things to say. Of late, however, I have been doing rather extensive reading as a part of my summer vacation, and have often wished there was an acceptable medium through which I could share excerpts from those books and thoughts those passages have inspired. Eventually it occurred to me that I could use a blog to share my thoughts. This newly founded blog is the result of that idea and it is my present goal to use it as a place to share my random musings and thoughts, as well as excerpts from books that I have found interesting or edifying. It is my hope and desire that those who read this blog will enjoy it and perhaps gain ideas of their own through it.
Its name, "Firefly in the Darkness", was inspired by a recent thought of mine. It occurred to me that, in a way, Christians are, in the darkness of this fallen world, similar to fireflies. When we are saved, we become little "lights" in this world made dark by The Fall. Over all, the world is still dark, but we, the fireflies, serve as small illuminators. Together, we all await the dawn of Jesus Christ's return when all will be filled with His glorious light. It is a very faulty illustration, I realize, but it was a neat thought to me and became my inspiration for this blog's title.
Soli Deo Gloria!
