Over the past few months, I have been reading through "The Attributes of God" by Arthur W. Pink. In the chapter on God's sovereignty, there were some excellent quotes which I wanted to share.
"Divine sovereignty means that God is God in fact, as well as in name, that He is on the Throne of the universe, directing all things, working all things 'after the counsel of His own will.'"
"Here then is a sure resting place for the heart. Our lives are neither the product of blind fate nor the result of capricious chance, but every detail of them was ordained from all eternity, and is now ordered by the living and reigning God."
"Were it in anywise possible for something to occur apart from either the direct agency or permission of God, then that something would be independent of Him, and He would at once cease to be Supreme."
"...the Divine knowledge of the future is not a mere abstraction, but something which is inseparably connected with and accompanied by His purpose."
The truth of God's sovereignty is indeed a "sure resting place for the heart" and such a comfort to all believers!
