Histories of Life

You know that handy button on mac computers where you can erase the history on it? I love that button, because I've always been an "organization freak" and this allows me to feel like I'm cleaning out my computer too. You just press the button and you have a clean slate. It got me thinking today - don't you wish there was a button like that for life? Just push a button and suddenly everything you've done - erased! No memory of the bad things left to dwell on against your will at a later time.
I am so grateful that I serve a God who has forgiven me, taken my punishment and redeemed me - washing my slate completely clean. I know that my sins have already been paid for. It's an amazing and heartening thought! I just wish that wiping away the guilt of sin included wiping away the memory of it... But I often try to remember that it is only Satan who reminds us of it, using it to drag us down when God has wiped it away to be remembered no more.
My, it's amazing what a simple computer function will bring to my mind.

Coming to Terms with Reality

Okay, here we go for another "can you believe it" post, but I can't help it. Can you believe it that I am about to be a college freshman?! Perhaps it would be more appropriate to ask, "Can I believe that I am about to be a college freshman?" The answer to that question would be a definitive "No!" But it's the truth nonetheless, and with applications and scholarships flying past me like so many birds, it's a reality I had better come to grips with fast.

Have Suitcase Will Travel...Someday

I want to travel the world. I want to see Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, Central America, Africa, Latin America... I want to see the pyramids in Egypt...I want to visit the Cairo Museum... I want to hear the call to prayer from a Muslim mosque in Saudi Arabia... I want to take a gondola ride in Italy... I want to climb the stairs to the top of the Eiffel Tower in France... I want to see the Castle of Segovia in Spain... I want to see the rugged wilderness of Africa... I want to take a tour of London and see Abbey Road... I want to see the rolling hills of Scotland and listen to a Scottish brogue... I want to TRAVEL! And someday, I will. Everyone has a dream, right? Well, this is mine.

"Friends" in the Broad Sense of the Word

I was writing a letter to an old friend tonight and as I went to sign my name, I debated whether to add my last name as well as my first. Then it occurred to me, if I have to sign my full name to an email to a friend, then they probably aren't very close friends to begin with. Which made me think, again, on how lightly people use the word "friends" these days. I have even heard some people refer to others with that term even while discussing how they can't stand them. Silly at best...sad at worst...
